Structural Archetypes are the fundamental patterns that explain how systems behave. They represent recurring structural forms such as causal chains, feedback loops, capacity limits, constraints, distributed coordination, and adaptive redesign. Although real-world systems vary widely, many of them follow the same underlying patterns.
These archetypes form the core grammar of Systems Language. By recognizing these structural patterns, readers can better understand why certain outcomes repeatedly occur and where meaningful intervention is possible. The diagrams in this category illustrate the key system structures that shape behavior across organizations, technologies, and complex environments.
